High-frequency power transformer with ferrite core
Power transformers with ferrite cores are used wherever galvanic isolation, voltage adjustment, or signal transmission at high frequencies is required – typically in switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), inverter circuits, or EMC-sensitive systems. Due to their high efficiency, compact design, and good frequency adaptation, they are an integral part of modern power electronics. We manufacture these components precisely according to application – tailored to current, frequency range, thermal requirements, and winding geometry.
Interpretation without saturation issues
Ferrite cores are prone to magnetic saturation if improperly designed, especially at low frequencies or with direct current (DC) components. We use simulations and saturation curves to accurately calculate magnetic utilization. Additionally, we select materials with high saturation flux density and optimize the air gap in the core to prevent saturation even at high currents or DC bias. This ensures that your transformer remains linear and reliable throughout the intended frequency range. For special cutoff frequency ranges, we also develop custom hybrid concepts with combined core materials upon request.
Minimal losses and optimal thermal management
Ferrite cores offer low eddy current and hysteresis losses, yet we place great emphasis on efficient design to ensure your transformer remains cool even under load. Through a thoughtful winding arrangement and high-quality core materials, we reduce losses and evenly distribute generated heat. We create detailed temperature derating curves that show behavior at various ambient temperatures. If desired, we can integrate heat sinks or encapsulation materials for improved heat dissipation and maximum lifespan. Moreover, proper impregnation or encapsulation not only reduces noise but also increases dielectric strength.
Custom core and winding adaptation
Every application has different requirements. We advise you on the selection of the appropriate core shape (toroidal, E-core, etc.) and the suitable ferrite material. Our wide product range and a clear product matrix with application recommendations make the pre-selection easier for you. With special winding techniques – such as bifilar windings – we minimize stray inductance and optimize the transformer for the desired frequency range.
